What Is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the chemical decomposition produced by passing an electric current through a liquid or solution containing ions. It can be used in the removal of hair roots by the application of heat using an electric current.Electrolysis can be used to remove individual hairs from the face or body. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth center of the hair with chemical or heat energy.

There are three different methods used to apply electrolysis.

These are:

1. Galvanic electrolysis
2. Thermolysis or Short Wave Electrolysis
3. Blend Electrolysis 

The main aim of using any of the methods is to damage the core of the growing hair in order to cut off the blood supply and nutrition to the hair, preventing any form of growth from developing. 

So, how does it work?

The different methods of electrolysis have their different ways of working. Here are the ways the various methods work: 

Galvanic electrolysis

This method uses a Direct Current (DC) of electricity. When the needle is inserted, the electricity that comes down the needle causes the salt and water in the skin to be chemically altered. The combination of salt, water and electricity produces a small amount of sodium hydroxide. If produced enough, this solution can effectively damage the cells that cause hair growth.

Thermolysis or Short Wave Electrolysis

The thermolysis method, also known as the short wave, works by using an Alternating Current (AC) of electricity. This current causes the water molecules in the skin around the needle to vibrate and this creates heat. If enough heat is created, it can damage the cells that cause hair growth.

Blend Electrolysis

The Blend Method combines the procedure of both the Short Wave and Galvanic. During this process, sodium hydroxide is created and is then heated by the electricity. This heat and the chemical solution, then destroys the hair tissue.

Using Tca to treat Xanthelasma, is it effective and what are the dangers? 

Xanthelasma Tca treatment is very similar to Xanthelasma treated with liquid nitrogen. The Tca is applied by some doctors to destroy the cell walls of both healthy and mutated cells. Your Xanthelasma would be treated in a doctor’s office or similar and is a painful process. Doctors are moving away from this form of treatment, as have individuals, due to the Xanthelasma, in as up to 95% of cases returning, also due to the aggressive nature of the Xanthelasma tca treatment.
